The Bailout That Never Was (For the Average Joe)

Monday I heard talk about how everything was going to be fine – after all, Wall Street was up over 900 points - the single biggest leap in the DOW’s history (as far as points go). But all these eager beavers forgot one thing. It was Columbus Day here in America and as such, as they traditionally do, all the banks were closed.

So without any credit worries that day, the DOW soared.

Two days later the DOW took two hits, just over a 100 point drop Tuesday and a 733 point drop today.

The Bailout hasn’t helped. Remember that it was rushed in under the guise of “If we don’t do something fast it could spell disaster”. That would be a $700,000,000,000.00 pay day for the fat cats and a recession for the rest of us. (Saying "$700 billion" doesn’t sound as bad as actually seeing it, does it!?!)

Bernanke is quoted saying that the U.S. economy is facing a big threat

Why?

Didn’t He, Paulson, and the rest of the Demopublicans promise that this was the band aid that the severe financial lesion needed to fix it all and make the big bad banking boo-boo feel better?

Well, it did. It made all of those bad lending bankers feel good to know that they were now financially free to roam around the planet without a worry to their funding.

All the while we, the American tax payer, are on the hook for it.

Bush said it had to be done, McCain and Obama were right there on board with it. Pelosi, most of the Senate and enough House votes were on board to pass it. And all the while, Americans were saying NO to it!

Who listened?

Did Bush? No!

Did Pelosi? No!

Did McCain? No!

Did Obama? No!

The only thing Obama and McCain have been right about is that we need change!

Vote Libertarian – across the board.

Elect officials who care what the American people say, not what the Wall Street fat cats have to say!

Bob Bar is who we need in office!
BobBarr2008

Who is going to pay for it?
Maybe I missed something.

Obama says he's all for a "big" tax break to the middle-class (Those who make less than $250K a year). And that really sounds good to me. I can use it!

McCain is all in favor of giving Big Business large tax breaks. And that is just par for the course.

But who is going to pay for the Bailout?

Does the Government really think that as long as they have paper and ink they can print more money and therefore we're not broke? Do they REALLY think that tax BREAKS will pay for what they've both already voted for will pay us (Main Street) back?

Do they really believe that the Treasury Department will truly give the American people "their money back" by investing in these broke banks and hoping they turn themselves around?

I believe they like to say that with the full knowledge that if they do give it back it will be in the form of yet another "Stimulus Package"- in other words, we have to take it off of our tax returns, if we're getting one. Or, to put it in plain English - make money off of money they've made by making us pay for it.

No, someone has to pay for this Bailout, and neither Demopublican candidate is really being honest about how to pay for it.

Like Obama says - it's time for change.

Vote Bob Barr! (BobBarr2008.com)

Too little too late?

The good news is that this whole fiasco will make the Bush legacy make all other presidential legacies combined to not look that bad.

The bad news, is it too late?

Late last night, Clusterstock (www.clusterstock.com) reported this:

"The Treasury finally seems to have seen the light on its crappy trash-asset bailout plan and may now actually inject capital into banks instead. This is a far better idea, one that we and others have been shouting down a rainbarrel about for weeks."

But the real question is this:

Did Paulson learn his lesson or is he simply backstroking out of a no win situation?

Keep in mind that Paulson is simply a puppet to his master Bush. He spouts whatever sounds good to the Bush administration – as long as it doesn’t tick off too many of the fat cats Paulson likes to socialize with.

Washington does NOT care about Main Street – they just parrot it to pacify us. It’s time to wake up. America, it's time to elect all new public officials.

Neither Demopublican candidate really said anything new in this latest debate. They parroted their own agendas with nothing really substantial on fixing the problem. Why? IMHO – they like the problems. They thrive on these problems. It let’s them justify their lives and jobs.

This November we can come together and vote out all Demopublicans and put Libertarians in their place.

To see what Libertarians believe go here - http://www.lp.org/issues

Where McCain and Obama are trying to keep Bob Barr and the Libertarians out, we can put him in. Where they don’t want him involved, we can make him Commander-in-Chief. Where they want only Demopublicans, we can shove them out and show them what real change is.

Vote Bob Barr (www.bobbarr2008.com)

Who is really surprised about all of this?

Last week it was "Bailout or Bust" - Amreica, take your pick!

Today it's 'Worse Than '87 Crash: Current Crisis Hitting Main Street Hard' as reported by Yahoo Finance's Tech Ticker at 12:53pm EDT The American people, nick named Main Street, are the ones who are looking at mortgage foreclosures, loss of jobs, benefits, and retirement packages, not Wall Street.

The American people SCREAMED at Congress NOT to pass the Bail out, and yet our voice - the American People's voice, went unheard and unheeded today.

It states that the market is in "far worse" condition than we were in the 1987 crash, the 1998 Long-Term Capital Management crisis, or the bursting of the tech bubble.

So who here is really surprised that it's not only going to take time, but it's also going to take more money?

Are we surprised? We shouldn't be!

When was the last time our vote really counted? When was the last time our voice was really heard?
Does 1776 sound familiar - because that's about it? Oh, I'm sure there are some minor successes I'm not reporting hear - but let's face it, overall Washington only cares about our tax dollars and not much else.

I wrote to BOTH my state Senator and my House Representative. To date Kay Bailey Hutchinson has not responded to me (Watch me get a 'rah rah letter from her today). John Carter said he opposed the bailout and wanted Wall Street to fund the economy back to health - OK; I have no problem with HIS reply.

But you can bet the Kay Bailey’s political career is coming to an end. She may be thinking of running for governor of Texas - let her.

REMEMBER THE BAILOUT!

I hope ALL of the Demopublicans in both Texas and Washington are run out of the country!

But I digress...

We need to send a clear message to Washington.

Demopublicans - you are OUT!

Call in the Libertarians. They stand for a voice of the people, less government, and more freedoms.

The Demopublicans stand for their own filthy wallets. It is Main Street's sweat and blood, but Washington doesn't care.

Vote Libertarian this election. Send a clear message to Washington.

Let your voice be heard - again!

My, but aren't we surpirsed?

OK, I'm sure everyone here is just SO surprised that the market dropped again today more than 350 points. For that matter it has now dipped below 10,000.

I have a question for Congress and the President - Where's the upside we are supposed to see? Weren’t all the speeches saying that this would solve everything?

But of course it didn't. Instead Bush is NOW
OK, So I'm sure everyone here is just SO surpirsed that the market dropped again today more than 350 points. For that matter is has now dipped below 10,000.

I have a question for Congress and the President - Where's the upside we are supposed to see? Wasn't all the speeches saying that this would solve everything?

But of course it didn't. Instead Bush is NOW saying it's going to take time.

Funny, that's not what he said to get the bill passed.

For that matter we're hearing that it could be 1 to many Trillions of dollars. And guess who is already on the hook for it?

Well, I've had enough.

I have been a staunch Republican for too many years. Turning a deaf ear to common sense thinking my candidate HAD to be right.

I've changed parties. But not THAT party!

Both the Republicans and Democrats wants Main Street to believe this is a two party system ONLY because they can't force us to believe there should only be one party.

But neither side can show us anywhere in the constitution where this is a two party system.

It's time to vote for change. It's time America's voice WAS heard - and not that of big business. It's time the Demopublicans got shown REAL change! Not the kind either Obama or McCain want, and not the kind either is willing to give. America - let your voice be heard this election!

Vote Bob Barr and get BOTH the Republicans and the Democrats OUT of office!

Let's recap how bad this is...

Wall Street is tumbling because of bad investments. This will affect us - Main Street. How hard or how bad? No one really knows. I've heard everything from "Depression 2" to "it's going to be a belt tighter". We're all guessing when it comes to the ramifications of doing nothing, doing too little, doing too little too late, doing everything too late, or just pushing forward without any real due diligence.

In a smashing blow to Bush and his cronies in the Treasury, Wall Street and other places, the House of Representative - over whelmed with calls, letters, and e-mails from 'We the people', listened.

I heard the debate Monday and the overwhelming opinion was:
1) No one wanted to have to vote on this bill
2) This bill was pathetic - at best - but it was all they had
3) Doing SOMETHING was better than doing NOTHING

Pelosi, in her typical manner, took a bipartisan bill and claimed victory for having gotten it done. She also made comments referring to the fact that this whole fiasco was the Bush administration's fault.

Question Pelosi. Who is it that passed Bush's finances? Did he just push them through, or did both House and Senate sign off on them?

Lay the blame where it rightly belongs - Washington!

I was so glad that a fat bill loaded with benefits for fat cats and politically connected cats was, in the House, beaten.

I am not against the bailout!. I'm against Main Street being forced to eat this poop sandwich and told how good it is for us! How many times will we just sit there and take it?

Why not make Wall Street fund the bailout? Why not make LOANS on the bad assets instead of buying them outright? Why not give the $8K per taxpayer (Approx) to John and Jane Q Public and let THEM decided how to fix the economy with that money - either let them send their money to the bad banks, or let them pay off bills and buy needed items? Either way it would be their choice, not the Fed, not the Treasury, not Congress. Why won’t they do it?

Why?

Because the fat cats would be in trouble.

The Senate has not only passed a bill with LOTS of pork loaded in it:

Wooden arrows: This tax break, backed by Oregon's two senators, would benefit an Oregon manufacturer of wooden arrows for children by $2 million over 10 years.

Racetracks: Earmark would allow auto racetrack owners to depreciate their facilities over seven years, saving the industry $100 million over two years.

Rum: Offers rum producers in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands a rebate on excise taxes worth $192 million over two years.

Wool: Reduces tariffs for U.S. makers of wool fabric that use imported yarn, worth $148 million over five years. The measure was pushed by Reps. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y., and Melissa Bean, D-Ill.

Exxon Valdez: Plaintiffs in the suit over the 1989 oil spill could spread their tax payments on punitive damages over three years, cutting their tax bill by $49 million. The measure was backed by Rep. Don Young, R-Alaska.

American Samoa: Allows certain corporations to reduce their tax liability on income earned in American Samoa, at a cost of $33 million over two years.

Hollywood: Extends a tax break for film and TV companies that keep their production in the United States, worth $478 million over 10 years. The provision was originally pushed by Rep. Diane Watson, D-Los Angeles.

(As published in the San Francisco Chronicle)

Bottom line, this bill is a black hole to the American Tax payer.

Obama and McCain BOTH voted for it.
Bob Barr did NOT.

Neither party has the American people's interests at heart. All they want is to be elected so they can be the lobbyists' next puppet.

Why did the Senate pass it so fast and eagerly? Their seats are not up for another - what? - Three (3) years?

Bob Barr (Libertarian) is for LESS government. He is against the entire bailout program in its current form. He stands for the American people.

The Texas Cry of freedom should be changed and all Americans - this election and the Senate elections - should shout - REMEMBER THE BAILOUT!

Remember that Bob Barr did NOT vote for it!

Make your vote count for something other than a Washington Fat Cat's wallet.

Vote for Bob Barr!

Remembering about Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day

REMEMBER MEMORIAL DAY

What does Memorial Day mean to me? Let me give you a brief glimpse into my life, growing up.

My father was stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany. This is where my first memories really are. He started off in the Air Force, where he met my mom, in San Angelo, Texas. I am the middle child with an older brother and a younger sister. The Navy offered better pay for family so my dad switched from Air Force to Navy. From there he made a career out of the Navy.

I remember Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day, when we got to go into town and play in tanks, jeeps, halftracks, and other assorted military vehicles.

I remember asking my father why we were allowed to play in them when I had been told that only soldiers got to ride in them.

He explained that this was a day to remember all US Military persons who have served our country. It wasn’t until many years later that I understood what he was trying to tell me at that young age.

Throughout the years, while other people partied, or went to the beach, or otherwise enjoyed a three-day weekend I remember that, no matter where I was or what I was doing, something in the back of my mind kept reminding me of sitting in that tank.

I remember protesters throwing bottles, rock, and cans at our school bus in Hawaii. Why? Because we were the children of “baby killers”. I remember watching the first Vietnam POWs coming home. I don’t remember their names, but I remember the tears in my eyes, not really understanding why I was crying. It wasn’t sadness, but something inside was happy and proud.

I remember all of the “training accidents” we would hear about on the radio or television. I remember the helicopters that were lost in a failed attempt to rescue the American hostages in Iran.
I remember Oliver North, the Contras, the Gulf War, Bosnia, Afghanistan, and the first Iraq War. Through it all, to this day, I remember that tank. I remember the heat inside it. I remember the uncomfortable gunner’s seat, the small driver’s seat.

I remember who that tank represented. It represented, and still does, everyone who wore the uniform of the United States of America’s Armed Forces.

What will I be doing this Memorial Day? I will be asking my children what Memorial Day means. I will, again, explain it to them when they say ‘I dunno.’ I will be remembering all who came before, all those who are and all those who will be in the United States Military.

I will remember everyone who fought for our flag, our country, our way of life. It won’t matter to me if the battles were politically correct or not. It won’t matter to me if they are just a “police action” or a “real war”. I will remember that American men and women bled and died because their country told them to go.

I will remember that they gladly went in my stead.

I will remember that they fought so that I wouldn’t have to. I will remember that they gave of themselves so that others could protest a war. They died protecting my right to vote, my right to pray to the God of my choice, and my freedoms, most of which I still do not fully appreciate.

I will remember those who came back, but not whole, for every one of them lost something. All lost something inside. Some lost something physically as well. Some lost limbs or eyes. Still others lost the will to care. I will say a prayer of thanks for those who died and those that survived.

My attempt at serving was cut short when I was discharged halfway through basic. I was told I was medically unfit for duty. I had injured myself while trying to serve. I am proud of my short time in for I gave 100% but my body failed me.

For those who are in Iraq and Afghanistan, I pray that you come home safely. And for all of those who serve on “Special” assignment in places we don’t know about and probably will never know about, I will say an extra prayer for you. Because ALL of you are putting yourselves in harms way so that America can stay free. I pray that America remembers who you are and what you are doing. I pray that we have learned from Vietnam. I pray that we do not re-live our most disgraceful period of shunning those who have served.

What does Memorial Day mean to me? It means that I live in a free country because someone freely and willingly said, “I’ll go. You stay here and keep a place for me.”

Someone had the courage to not only realize that we need them there, but was willing to step up and be counted with others who stepped forward – just to name a very few honored people:

General George Washington, General George S. Patton, General Douglas MacArthur, James Lynn Abler, Arthur Pina Adame, William Kimbal Batchelder, Pvt. David E. Dietrich, Lance Cpl. William C. Koprince Jr.

These are real people who have served a real country, giving real lives. I will remember each and every one of you. Even those of you I have never heard of, I will remember.

Memorial Day means that I know who you are and what sacrifices you are making or have made. I know your resolve in keeping Old Glory flying freely and proudly in our homes, our schools, our governments and our embassies. I know that you went so that I can be free.

I thank you for your willingness to serve and your resolve to allow me to live freely.

As I get older each year, I still remember that tank, but the picture of that tank fades a little more with time. And while the picture fades the meaning behind that tank grows stronger. I come to appreciate that tank more and more with each passing year. That tank is no longer a 10 ton piece of metal to me. That tank represents the resolve of every soldier, sailor, marine, and airman serving our country today. It strength is in its ability to protect.

I salute you all. And may God continue to bless America.

Christopher Dale
author@candp-ent.com

Copyright 2004, 2008 – All rights reserved.

If anyone finds this article of use and wishes to e-mail or mail it to service men and women, all I ask is that you do not modify it in any way.
Upcoming Writing Event for Memorial Day

Hey everyone,

I realize I haven't posted much in here, but I've been very busy and they don't give me a lot of access (none actually) from my personal computer at work.

Any - I am going to be putting a revises Memorial Day article I wrote a few years back up here.

I feel it is our duty to remember those who have given so much, for so little, and to thank them for that which they do. I am talking about our fighting men and women.

I see a lot of attention on the police and firefighters, and I don't want to take away from them for they, also, are heroes. But I don't think we pay enough attention to those who willing put on the uniform of an American military person willing, at any given moment, to put their life down so that we may have the freedoms we have.

Anyway, that is my introduction. I hope you will read and comment on my article. I hope to put it up later tonight or tomorrow evening.

If you like it, please send others to read it - no, it's not about a hit count. It's about letting everyone who wears a uniform know that there ARE those who want to thank them for the service they perform. Every time they go into battle, every time they are asked to prepare for battle, every time they put themselves in harms way they are protecting me and my family - no matter how direct or indirect, and I don't think very many people realize that. And fewer yet stop to remember these men and women for their sacrifice.

Yesterday's (Sunday 12/10) Sermon

WOW! It's over!!! :) It seems like it went by REALLY fast! but the time seemed to be right, at least for the AM sermon. At first I thought the PM sermon was too short, but after it was all over, it seemed to be right on time. Looking back, I can say I would do this again if asked - and one of the elders came up and told me that that was NOT the last two sermons he's heard me preach there! :)

Yes, I was VERY nervous before I reached the podium. But God gave me the strength and courage to do what He called me to do.

I, personally, thought I did adequate, at best. But the congregation all told me it was one of the best sermons that they had heard in a long time, and one that needed telling - often!

Although the PM wasn't as "strong" of a message, both sermons you couldn't hear anyone - no coughing, no babies, nothing but my voice. I thought it was a trick of being up there, but my daughter told me that in both sermons, the whole congregation was extremely quiet.

One lady told me, after the AM sermon, that this was the first time she had cried in a very long time. A guest came and told me it was a much needed sermon.

I'm glad that His message came out!

A lady I used to work with came to the evening sermon. It was good to see (those who know where I am talking about may remember her - A B-G - If the initials don't ring a bell, sorry.... :) )
I have also asked the recording people for 10 CDs of the sermons (Both sermons on 1 CD) as I knew some people had wanted to be there and couldn't so they asked me to get the a CD. The 10 include those people and a few "spares" if anyone else wants one! :)

I will probably be getting the sermons on MP3 and eventually posting them to my RenewARightSpirit.com site.

If anyone wants a CD, let me know!!!

As always I will try to post more later, but can't guarantee it! :)

Well,

The Christian E-Zine I had been writing 3 - 4 articles a month recently decided that they were rethinking their strategy. They decided that there are plenty of
Christian E-Zines out there that deal with the spiritual well being of a person. So they are going to stick with only the Family, Personal, and Financial wellbeing.

Why a Christian E-Zine would drop the #1 important part of being a Christian for the worldly side only I will never know. But as I will only write for the Spiritual
side, I thanked them for allowing me the 6 months that I did write for them.

And I never received 1 penny for it either. :)

I hope and pray that the next gig IS for some money - it would help me in my expenses...

In His name,
--
Christopher Dale
Home Page - http://author.candp-ent.com
FaithWriter's Profile - http://www.faithwriters.com/member-profile.php?id=10333
http://author.candp-ent.com/pdf.asp - PDFs of my published articles.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

For those of you that know me, you know that the beach is probably the ONE
on this earth I love. And I am SO going tomorrow morning. I'll be back Friday. I would
love to stay and extra day or two, yes I am already wanting to stay more, even
though I am not there..., but alas, I cannot. My daughter has to be at work Saturday
(I think morning, but I'm not sure...). Of course if I find out she doesn't have to be
in to work until 5:00 Pm... }8-{|} (Oh, yeah. that's my Evil Monkey Face)

So, my team lead just came by and told me to have a good vacation, of which I IMMEDIATELY
started packing up my desk. Then he reminded me I still had to work today.
( 8 (|) DOH! DOH! DOH!

Oh, well... 8 more hours and vacation starts.

For all of y'all still working, enjoy and try to take life easy.

For all of y'all going on vacation - Party on, dude(s)!.

--
Christopher Dale

P.S. - Just checked my "Current Mood"s and they were all Cyrillic. Why Russian? Why now?!?

Oh well... will try to obtain an English version...
